Building a Solar Air Heater

A solar air heater is a device that collects solar thermal energy and transfers it to the ambient air in your home. Its a very simple device and can be build from waste materials if necessary.

The control system for a solar air heater is very simple, it should monitor the ambient air inside and the air that comes from the air heater, and regulate the ventilation based on the temperature.

- Outside air to cold, no ventilation
- Outside air to hot no ventilation
- in Between ventilate

A control system for a SAH can be build using a picaxe microcontroller and two temperature sensors. These can be I2C absolute (calibrated) sensors or thermistors.

You need the following mateirals to build a control system, of course the size of the ventilator and the solar panel depend on the amount of air you expect to be moving.
