Solar LED/TL Day Lighting
Sometimes it is usefull to have light in a building during the day, in dark passages, elevators internal storage rooms. Those lights can be powered by solar panels directly. If one uses LED this is very efficient. An added benefit is that you do not need the inverter, so that saves a lot of the cost of the solar panels.

Simple Proof of Concept
Below you can see how a small 12 Volt 5 Watt panel powers a LED matrix. The panel produces enough power in the shadow to drive the matrix.

"If you know that some places in your building are dark most of the year you can design a system of direct DC drive of LED lamps, powered by panels on the roof of your building. This means you will have a 12 Volt or 48 volt system installed, voltages that are not dangerous, with matching LED lamps. Because LED is very efficient you save so much that the panels come for free.
Calculation Example
Solar panels now go for 2 Euro/Watt. Suppose you have 1000 Watt conventional lightbulbs. Those are replaced by 200 Watt replacement. That costs 500 Euro for the LED and ~359 for the panel for the panel. If the light is on 5 hours a day 200 days a year you earn the cost back in 4 years, but of course you also save on replacement cost, maintenance etc. This is without subsidies, but you can also apply for subsidies or tax breaks to do it..The panels and the LEDs last at least 20 years!| Item | Cost in Euro |

Practical implementation
In practically you would need to specify which light you know is burning during the day. What type and what power consumption. The installation will have to have a balancing system, where it either uses the panels or takes from the net. This is not an inverter, but a transformer that stands by to top up the DC line.The lamps must be special for DC use. They can be especially designed. They can be adapred T5/T8 tubes.
