How can You Use a Heliostat?

1. It can bring light in your home

It can compensate for having little window area on the south side, and make your home lighter. It can do so through a solar chimney, so you can light the center of your home from inside.

2. It can heat your home

If you build a solar wall (a heavy wall that can absorb a lot of heat), you can store heat during the day by letting the light enter trough a window and hitting the wall. You can also build a reciever and circulate your central heating water through that instead of your boiler. This all provided you have direct sunlight available. Especially as a farmer you can use your land to catch sunlight even without interfering with cattle in any way.

Using water heat storage you can store an immense amount of summer heat for use in winter.

3. It Can Cool You Home

Heat based cooling is not well known, but steam and lower temperature heat can be used to drive even ordinary absorption cooling equipment. Heliostats with a central reciever are bound to be cheaper and less complex to manage than individual panel collectors or vacuum tube collectors.

Steam locomotive trains had airconditioning based on steamjet vacuum coolers. That technology is now burried to use industry waste heat, but they are perfectly capable of chilling to freezing, and with other working fluids much lower. Hheliostats can generate the steam pressure.

4. It Can Provide Steam Pressure

For people in an area with enough sun steam will become very important as a replacement of fossil fuels. There will be lots of smaller scale steam generators and we are actually looking for those products to become available.
