Offset monitoring is coveted by the big investors as a high end market. Yet well known ratings agancies have shown their corrupt nature in the current credit crisis (their valuations where worthless). It is much more environmentally friendly to have a crowd of monitors, monitoring constantly or on request. The domain realcarboncredits.com could be used for this. With 200 million searches each day and IT representing 2% of energy consumption it is clear this has to be cut drastically. This can be done by charging for the emissions and offsetting them or investing in clean energy sources to replace the fossil fuels sources.
