Additions:
Systems that use regenerative breaking and load up the ultracapacitors to their maximum charge (takes some time) at traffic lights could reduce emissions in urban areas considerably.

Additions:
There are now multiple examples of regenerative braking applid in Cars and Trucks. An example of this is the use of compressed air engines in the wheel seen in some new trucks.

Additions:
**Use of ultracapacitors**
In new electric vehicles the use of Ultracapacitors for regenerative breaking is common. These are already in place to provide the flexible loadcapacaity the batteries or fuel cells can not provide.
Ultracapacitors can store many joules of energy at a low voltage and extremely high current. The currents are possible because the internal resistance is very low, this resistance is more or less symbolic when comparing with batteries, because in batteries the current is limited also by the speed of the chemical reaction and the speed of migration of chemicals to electrodes.

Additions:
If brake systems would adjust to the present challenges in terms of energy conservation and efficiency one should not simply think about brakes in itself, but about what options the current brake systems affort.
All or most cars are prepared for a four wheel brake system. All automotive wheels leave ample room for the brake assembly. What is done with the space available?
