Transportation
Brake systems are designed to quickly dissipate the forward energy of motor vehicles. Most cars and trucks have breaks that are essentially advanced cousins of the earliest brake designs. In short, very little has changed, there never was a quantum leap.
If brake systems would adjust to the present challenges in terms of energy conservation and efficiency one should not simply think about brakes in itself, but about what options the current brake systems affort.
All or most cars are prepared for a four wheel brake system. All automotive wheels leave ample room for the brake assembly. What is done with the space available?
Regenerative braking
There are now multiple examples of regenerative braking applid in Cars and Trucks. An example of this is the use of compressed air engines in the wheel.
